On this episode we look at the sway or influence that your relationship with food has over your relationship with other people, whether they are family, friends, or colleagues, and vice versa. So, we also explore how your different relationships with other people impact what and how you eat.
Have you given much thought to this? Do you eat differently, or talk about food differently, depending on who you are with? Do you have some friends who you are more likely to overindulge with than others? Do you maybe always ask for seconds if you’re dining with family but wouldn’t ever contemplate going back for a second helping at a work buffet lunch?
Maybe if you’re some way along on your weight loss journey, you find yourself not eating certain foods with your partner but eating foods that you would prefer not to have when you’re a guest in another person’s house.
And I think lots of us do this. We think, feel and act differently, around food, and eat differently, depending on who we are with and the occasion. We are always adapting. In fact, we likely think we’re adapting to the situation or people but in fact we’re adapting to our thoughts about the situations and people, and that’s an important distinction, because it reminds us that we get to choose.
Listen in to today's episode to learn more about our relationships with food and other people at the point where they merge.
